The Property
Architect August Gietenbruch designed a magnificent Art Nouveau building for the five-story complex, which was built in 1910 in Berlin-Kreuzberg for the Ein- und Verkaufsgenossenschaft selbständiger Glasermeister Deutschlands (Sales and Purchase Cooperative of Independent Glaziers in Germany). The highly decorative bay window is adorned with putti, and a green shimmering mosaic band accentuates the beige sandstone of the Art Nouveau facade.
This renovated GSG courtyard in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Blücherstraße also has nothing to hide when it comes to its “interior”: The five white-clad backyards are also an architectural rarity due to their rich ornamentation.
