With their different, yet perfectly coordinated facades, the commercial courtyards at Köpenicker Straße 145 are a true architectural gem. The ensemble was built in 1888/89. Just a few years later, in 1893, the company Schirmer, Blau & Co. opened here. The embroidery machine manufacturer perfected the crank embroidery machine, which was still relatively new at the time, and conquered the world of fashion from Köpenicker Straße, revolutionizing the elaborate embroidery technique.
